Femi Ogunrinde announces Run for Councillor, Ward 6, in 2016 Municipal Elections
Regina community leader, Femi Ogunrinde, today announced his run for Councillor of Ward 6, in Regina’s 2016 municipal elections.
With two degrees and several years’ experience in geology and mineral exploration, he is currently completing a Doctorate in business administration. In addition, he is a chartered director and has worked as a high school teacher, community leader and university lecturer.
“My family and I have lived in Regina for well over three decades, and for almost twenty years, contributing to the development and revitalization of Ward 6 has been a passion of mine,” said Femi. “I would love to lend my voice to advancing the Ward even further.”
As senior pastor of the Lighthouse to all Nations church, located in the former Al Empringhams restaurant in Ward 6, Femi and his church community have spent over 17 years revitalizing the neighbourhood and converting an environment known for prostitution, drug use and disposed needles to a safe recreational community for children in the community.
Femi also volunteers in various capacities within the ward and across Regina. These include serving as a volunteer and director of several charities and non-profit organizations, including the Souls Harbour Mission. He is also the co-founder of a Regina-based entrepreneurship and leadership development organization dedicated to raising and empowering young and emergent leaders.
Married to his wife, Remi, for over 33 years, Femi is a family man who believes that strong families make strong communities. “Over the years, I have interacted with many people and families across Regina and Ward 6; I understand the challenges and aspirations of residents in its various communities,” said Femi. “My primary goal for Ward 6 is:

Femi and Remi are blessed with three adult daughters who are accomplished in their chosen fields of medicine, international & community development and engineering.

- Fair representation and advocacy for all the different communities like East view, Glen Elm, Rothwell place, Industrial areas, North central, Broder Annex etc.
- Pragmatism- integrating and accessing resources to bring about economic development and a total facelift especially for North Central through incentives that promotes home ownership.
- Collaboration & Strengthening of relationships-integrating police services, community associations, and stakeholders’ interests to serve the different communities.
- Implementation of recommendations of various studies over the years for combating crime, violence and gangs while strengthening families through provisions of supportive programs.
- Education, Youth unemployment and re-training
- Strong voice of Advocacy for rebuilding and maintaining residential roads as well as prompt public services to the communities.
